Bonjour Families,

Thank you for your patience for our newsletter this month. We wanted to ensure we have accurate information to share with you. This week we made the switch to online learning. We are so proud of our students, who have adapted well and are engaging with their virtual classes. We know for many students and families, this switch is not easy. Please remember that we are here for you. We have had a high number of emails and phone calls this week. If you did not receive a response, please reach out again.

With the arrival of the winter weather, we hope our students are able to take breaks to get outside and enjoy the snow! Build a snowman, make a snow angel, build a fort! Send any pictures of your outdoor activities to me and I will include them in our next assembly (email to [email protected])!

Thank you to all who attended our first virtual assembly of 2022! I knew that using a new platform would have its challenges, but we overcame them and were able to share the important message to our students that we miss them, we are proud of them, and we are here for them! Next assembly will be much smoother!

We know that each family is doing their best right now. Please know that you are not alone, we are here to help you. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out.

Bonjour Families,

Happy New Year! We hope that you had a wonderful break!   There have been a number of messages regarding the return to school over the last week and the changes to these messages may have added some confusion as well as stress for our families.  Please know that we are working very hard to support our families to understand this change to remote learning and help prepare our students to get into a new routine for the next few weeks.

As stated by the Premier today, Ontario schools are moving to remote learning until at least January 17th.  At East Ridge, we will be contacting families who completed the tech survey in October to let you know the process for borrowing technology very soon.  On Wednesday, January 5th, teachers will be connecting with their students to let them know the schedule for the class, ensure they are able to connect online and check in after the break.  Synchronous learning will begin on Thursday, January 6th.

While learning remotely, attendance is taken twice a day at our normally scheduled times.  If your child will be absent for a day of online learning, please follow the regular attendance procedures by calling the school, 519 376-2010 ext 0, or texting the school cell phone at 519 379-3623 and leaving a message that includes the reason for their absence. Office staff will be following up with unexplained absences.

We realize that online learning is not easy for every family and that this change comes with little notice.  We are here to support our families as best as we can, and we welcome you to reach out if needed.

At East Ridge, we have a strong community who works together to support our students.  We will continue to support our students as we move to remote learning and we hope to see them in person again very soon.

October 2021,

Welcome October!

Our adventure is on its way and we have had a full September. Our school routines have been established and students are working hard on their academics, building their learning skills and knowledge to continue to expand during the year.

It has been wonderful to have our students in person for learning and to see a return of extracurriculars.

Soccer and Cross Country started in September and will continue into the fall. Intramurals for our intermediate students are beginning this week as are some of our clubs like EcoSchools. We are following our COVID protocols for these activities. Activities will continue to expand as the year progresses.

Our SCC is gearing up for a busy school year. With the return of activities, the SCC committees are getting ready for different activities. If you are interested in volunteering in these committees, please contact the committee leads directly. The pizza committee will be sending order forms home soon!

This fall we will be offering school clothing orders as well. We will be using SchoolCash Online for all school purchases. If you need assistance, please call the school.

We hope our students, staff, and families have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend later this month!

Hi Everyone,

It is so wonderful to have our students back in person!  The morning of the first day always seems a bit chaotic at a large school, but all of our students got to their classes and our day started very positively.  A few reminders, when you are dropping off your children in the morning, you are welcome to stay and watch until their class heads inside.  We just need families to wait on the sidewalk along the parking lot.  Unfortunately, with bus students, staff and transfer students from other schools, it really causes a lot of congestion to have parents standing there.  You are welcome to stay on the sidewalk along the parking lot instead.

Just a reminder that buffs or "gators" are not approved as masks, we can provide a mask if needed.

All students are required to be screened at home for symptoms of COVID-19 for the next two weeks.  You can access the screener at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ If you require a paper copy, please send a note with your child.

Students in Kindergarten to grade 3 - we have printed the attestation of screening. Please sign it every morning.

Students in Grades 4-8 - Staff will do a quick check asking students if they completed the screener.

Any student who hasn't completed the screener, will be followed up by the office.

If you have questions, please reach out to the school.
