Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have students in our school who have severe allergies. This means that these students will quickly develop strong reactions when exposed to certain products. Without prompt treatment, exposure could prove fatal. We need to provide a safe environment for these students at East Ridge Community School.
The following items are not permitted in the school:
- Peanuts and products containing peanuts/peanut butter
- Tree nuts
- Mangoes
- Pistachios
Please also keep in mind, that peanuts and peanut oils are found in many foods without consumers realizing it. When you are reading the ingredient list, watch for the words, "May contain traces of peanuts." Please take time to look carefully at labels before choosing snacks and lunches for your child. Please also think carefully about what you may be carrying when you enter our building.
I appreciate that there will be some inconvenience in preparing snacks and lunches but I know that none of us would wish anything to jeopardize our students' safety.
