Bonjour Families,

Before March break, we sent home IPRC meeting notifications to many families.  If you did not receive one, please ignore this message.  These meetings were to be held in April.  With Minister Lecce's announcement that school closures will extend until at least May, these meetings are now on hold.  We will communicate with families in the upcoming weeks about what it will look like for these meetings. If you have questions, please contact me at or one of our learning resource teachers, Mrs. Veroni at or Mrs. Evans at

Thank you

Please see attached for a letter from Minister Lecce regarding the Ontario government's announcements made yesterday,

Director Murray called all families last night to share Bluewater District School Board's planning for what this will look like.  We working closely with the board to determine what the next step in the learn at home program will look like and how we can best support our students and our families.  We are missing our students very much and are looking forward to being able to have greater interaction with them over the next few weeks.  As announced, schools will continue to be closed until May 4th (at the earliest) for students.

I know you have many questions, and I am hoping to be able to give you some answers in the upcoming days.  I know students, and staff, have belongings in the school that they are needing access to.  At this point, we are still working out how we can get access to the building for these items, I will continue to communicate with you as we know more.

Schools are not just the building, it is the community of people that come together with the common goal for supporting our children to be their best.  We will continue to operate under this goal as we plan for the next step.  Our families are an important part of our school team, and we are here to support you as well. Continue to reach out to me if you are needing supports, at

I will be sending a few different school messenger messages today.  I am doing this to keep items clear, and separate so messages are not lost in a lot of text.  Next week, I will restart the weekly memo to families and we will have a monthly newsletter sent out later this week.  We are trying to support some normalcy in these strange times.

Take care,

Sara Morrow, principal

Bonjour Falcon Families,

We wanted to take a moment to check in.  We know how stressful life is right now and want to ensure that we share resources with you to support your family through the upcoming weeks.

We miss our students very much and know that they likely miss seeing their friends, teachers and support staff.  So as a way to break up the week, we offer two optional spirit "day" activities.

First spirit activity - dress as a falcon! Wear your falcon gear, just because you are at home, doesn't mean that you can't dress for school! If you don't have falcon gear, wear your house colours.

Second spirit activity - dress as a community superhero. Who are your local superheros right now? See the facebook post for some ideas.

If you wish to post pictures of these spirit activities on facebook, please post with the hashtag #ERCfalcons so we can virtually connect!

Please see this link for contact information for various community food programs in Grey and Bruce.  If you are in need of food, please reach out to these supports:

The following link has some mental health supports from the Canadian Mental Health Association.  We appreciate the work they do to support our community.  Please check it out for more information. CMHA_presentation-March.2020 (1).pdf

Also, I am here if you need assistance.  My email is  Please reach out if you are needing support and I will try to connect you with services.

We will continue to keep you updated during these fluid times.

Good Morning Falcon Families,

We hope everyone is safe at home and able to find the supports needed during this unprecedented time that we are living in.  As announced before March Break, the Ministry of Education has created online supports for families during this two week period of school closure.  Please see this link, for two letters, one from Director Murray and the other from Minister Lecce containing important information about how to access these resources.  The Learn at Home program has French resources as well as English, so our French immersion students are encouraged to complete some activities en français.

Some families may be feeling overwhelmed at the thought of supporting the learn from home program, the online activities are to give our students resources that will keep them engaged, and maintain their skills in reading, writing and math skills. There are no rules for what to use from this program or how much time students should be working on it.  Create a routine that works for your family, be flexible based on your child's interest and attention. Creating predictable routines, including regular bed and wake up times as well as learning times, helps to alleviate stress for children during times of uncertainty.  We know many of you are still working as well as trying to support your children during these two weeks so finding a routine that will work for your family is one way to be able to look at small pieces of time instead of whole days.  Physical activity is important as well. We know this is extra challenging at the moment with trying to maintain social distance as well as having the parks closed, but going for a walk or bike ride, even colouring with sidewalk chalk on the driveway, are great activities to get some fresh air and movement.

Bluewater will post any updates on the following link:

Please continue to adhere to the guidelines set out by Public Health and the Government so that we can protect ourselves, family and community.

Falcons are known to for rising above challenging situations, and that is true of our school community.  We are here to support our families as we adapt to the changing conditions we are currently experiencing.

Take care,

Sara Morrow, principal
