Dear Falcon families,

Last week we sent home information and dates regarding class reorganization from Bluewater District School Board.  East Ridge school typically experiences a reorganization each year and we will be this year as well.  Due to decreased enrolment, we will be collapsing a few classes.  This will cause a shift of students through the school.  We are working hard to ensure we can minimize movement and impact on our students. We are also planning different activities to support our students to feel safe and positive about any class moves.

We will be having an assembly on Friday, which we will share our message that “Falcons know how to PIVOT (People In Various Obstacles Triumph)” and that we can do hard things.  We will be sharing books with our students to help them to see that they will be connected to those classmates they have been with for the first month and a half of school, while adding to their connections with new classmates.  We will continue to be open and upfront with our school community about the changes that are upcoming. Some classes will have their own celebrations as well.

We will let families know, through email, if your child will be moving classes, which class they will be moving to as well as the contact information for the teacher.  These emails will be sent out Thursday afternoon and evening of this week.  Our new class arrangements will begin on Monday, October 19th

If you have any questions, please reach out.

Bonjour Families,

As  our school year progresses, we are finding many tweaks to protocols and symptoms regarding the COVID screener each staff and student take every morning.  Some of these changes come very quickly.  We are very fortunate to have a public health nurse who works closely with us to navigate through these changes to ensure that we are able to support our students and staff safely at school.  Thank you so much for your support and understanding as we continue to adjust to changes.  With the latest changes (students with a mild symptom may be able to return to school if the symptoms last less than 24 hours) it is important that we work together to ensure that students return to school when they are able.  To do this it will take a team approach, parents/guardians, school and public health working together. You are welcome to check in with us regarding return dates through email at or or  Or by phoning the school.

More information will be coming soon.

Hello Families,

We have had an excellent first week!  It is wonderful to see our students back in our classrooms!

We have many new processes that we are following as part of our protocol from Public Health.  Parents are to complete the student screening every morning. If your child has any symptoms on the screening, please follow the direction at the bottom of the form. You can find the screening tool at - select studetn screening

Parents will receive a call to pick up your child if they are reporting one or more symptoms of COVID-19.  Siblings will be picked  up as well.  If a parent is not available, we will contact emergency contacts listed. This information has been updated from earlier messages we received from Public Health.

If your child has a symptom and is at home, they can return to school once one of the following has been completed:

Students will only be permitted to return to school if:

1. They have been assessed by a registered healthcare provider and it is found that symptoms are not due to COVID-19 AND documentation is provided for their safe return to school. This is an option for parents who have regular contact with their family doctor in cases where the child has a chronic illness that the doctor can verify. If doctors can not verify that medical history, testing is recommended.

2. Student has remained in home isolation for 14 days from the onset of symptoms AND are symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school or 3. Student has received a negative test result and have been symptom free for 24 hours AND are able to pass the School Boards COVID-19 screening tool, as outlined in the schools operational protocol (documented proof of the negative test result is not required to return to school)

3. Student has received a negative test result and have been symptom free for 24 hours AND are able to pass the School Boards COVID-19 screening tool, as outlined in the schools operational protocol (documented proof of the negative test result is not required to return to school)

Siblings attending the same school as the symptomatic child (the child who is not well) should also be sent home, even if they are asymptomatic (not showing any Covid-19 symptoms). Siblings in other schools can finish out the day, but once home, families living in the same home should isolate until they meet the criteria above.

We will work together to follow the protocol as we follow our return to school protocols.

Thank you

Another video and information package for parents will be sent out over the next few days.   If you do not hear from the school regarding who your child's teacher will be by the end of day on Thursday, please call the school on Friday.

Bonjour Falcon Families,

I want to send a quick thank you for all of your support this school year.  What a year it was!  We are still learning what September may look like and will continue to communicate with you as we learn more.  Please know, as educators, it is our role to support our students at their level and we are dedicated to meeting their needs after a long spring of at home learning.  For our students in French Immersion, we will support their language needs. We recommend listening to stories in French or watching movies in French to support your child to hear the language over the summer.  In the fall, regardless of what school is looking like, we will support their language needs.

Thank you to all who attended our virtual assembly.  This is the link to watch the assembly, student logins will be needed to access it.

We hope you have a wonderful, relaxing summer.  Stay healthy, have fun, can’t wait to see our students smiles again.

Take care,

École East Ridge Community School
